Maldives News: Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu seems to be increasingly inclined towards China. Muizzu praised Maldives’ strategic relations with China, saying that both countries respect each other, and Beijing fully supports the sovereignty of the Indian Ocean island.

After assuming office in November last year, Maldives’ relations with India are becoming uneasy. After returning to Maldives from a state visit to China, Muizzoo said – China has been continuously providing assistance in the development of Maldives since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972. During this time, Muizzu, considered a pro-China leader, tried to bring Maldives closer to Beijing.

He also said that China’s Belt and Road Initiative has taken relations between the two countries to a new level. During an interview on China’s official CGTN channel, Muizzu said – China is not a country that will interfere in the internal affairs of Maldives, which is why there are strong relations between the two countries.

The official PSM News quoted Muizzoo as saying that the President expressed confidence that China-Maldives relations will continue to strengthen in the future. He also said that his Chinese counterpart President Xi Jinping puts the interests of citizens first and under his leadership China’s economy has reached new heights.

According to a report, Muizzu said that President Xi Jinping has assured him that the Chinese government will help Maldives achieve its goals. President Muizzu said that Xi Jinping wants to transform Maldives into a country that works in harmony with other developed countries.

Maldives will reduce dependence on India- Muizzu
Speaking to the media after returning from China, Muizzu said without naming any country, “We may be small, but that does not give you license to threaten us.” He also talked about reducing the country’s dependence on India. Plans also announced. During this, he talked about bringing essential food items and medicines from other countries.

He said that no country has the right to influence the domestic affairs of any country, even if that country is small in size. During this, Muizzu took oath and said that he will not allow any outside country to influence the domestic affairs of Maldives. MLA is also reviewing more than 100 bilateral agreements signed with New Delhi during the previous government.
